A New Twist on Old Denims

We know how hard it is to part with that trusty pair of jeans, now you don’t have to. This time we’re going to show you how to make a lunch bag from your old jeans.

Now, we’ve shown you how to make a potli bag out of an old tee; with a few tweaks you can make a trendy lunch bag.

All you need is:

Old jeans

Needle and thread

Scissors

Ribbon or drawstring

Appliqué, buttons or sequins

Step 1

Cut out the leg of the jeans to the size of your liking (12 – 15 inches). We suggest that you choose a wide leg or a boot cut style of jeans.

Step 2

Cut another piece of your denims about ½ inches larger than the leg’s circumference. Now sew this piece to the bottom of the leg thus forming the base of your bag.

Step 3

Fold & sew the top of the bag about 1-2 inches wide. Using a safety pin guide the ribbon or drawstring through the loop and knot the ends.

Your sturdy lunch bag is ready! Now for the fun part, embellish your bag with patchwork, badges, or you can even paint on it.

Stir up interest at school or the office with your funky lunch bag!
