Christmas Anticipation!

Last minute shopping, decorating the house, putting up the Star, mommy’s hiding the sweets away, getting the milk and cookies ready for Santa and caroling in the night, it’s the favourite time of the year for so many of us…

So who is Santa?

Saint Nicholas of Myra is the primary inspiration for the Christian figure of Sinterklaas. He was a 4th century Greek Christian bishop of Myra (now Demre), Turkey. Nicholas was famous for his generous gifts to the poor. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity. In continental Europe he is still portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes.

Are you’ll all set for Santa? We sure are!

Christmas Tree Trends 2011

Decorating the tree at Christmas is the best part of the Christmas preparations for most of us. But the same old trimmings and streamers can seem dreary. This year add some spunk and try out different ways to decorate the tree.

Pick a theme:

The trend this year is Glitter and Glamour or Rustic. If you dare to be dramatic go all the way with the Glitter and Glamour theme. Decorate your tree with silver, grey and white trimmings and sprinkle some glittery dust on the edges of the branches.

If glitter is not how you’d like go, then try the Rustic look. Trim your tree with natural and rustic buntings such as acorns, dried mistletoe and wreaths, rusty looking bells and wooden decorations in grey and add hints of red with bows or candy canes…

Another look that you can try is pick a colour and decorate your tree in that colour palate but add a dash of green, red or white to give it the traditional Christmas feel.
